Wormtown Chase 10/29/22

  • The team concluded the 2022 fall racing season with another race on Lake Quinsigamond. We won gold in the collegiate four, silver in the novice four, and the eights placed 4th and 7th. A great finish as we shift focus towards winter training and the spring!

Head of the Charles 10/22-10/23

  • A large portion of the varsity squad got in on the action in rowing’s biggest weekend. We kicked things off on Friday night with a banquet and boat christening for our new shell, the Fr. Bill Pauly, SJ. The christening was performed by one of our most cherished alumni and generous benefactors, Tom Lacy ‘93. Thank you to all parents and alumni who attended!

  • Saturday racing saw our Club 8+ have a strong row down the course. The weekend continued with our Collegiate 4+ looking very competitive in an event featuring many prioritized boats from other programs. Our Collegiate 8+ tracked down some of last year’s top ACRA performers with a furious sprint from CBC to the finish line.

Quinsigamond Snake Regatta 10/15

  • We opened our fall racing season with 2 eights and 2 fours against a number of New England-based teams. The novice four, composed of underclassmen who had never been in a boat before September, captured bronze. Our collegiate four placed 2nd overall against many strong teams. The V8+ placed 13th in a 29 boat field, beating all other club teams and within striking distance of the D1 and D3 crews, while our 2nd eight rowed a solid race as well.

2021-2022

Fall/Winter

After a 539-day hiatus, BC Men’s Rowing returned to the water on September 2021. Led by juniors and seniors, the team recruited full freshman and sophomore classes. The first competition was the Head of the Charles, where three crews finished 17th, 20th, and 23rd against top competition. The following weekend, the squad packed up and raced in Worcester at the Wormtown Chase, squaring up against local crews. While the winter training months were cold, the annual March trip to Clemson, SC was a welcome return to warmer waters and two-a-day sessions with more than 40 team members.

Spring

The Spring sprint season began with competition against well-seasoned teams like Bates College, MIT, WPI, and Coast Guard. From there, preparation for championship racing began. At NERC, BCVM raced well against top D1 and D3 crews, finishing 11th, 7th, and 5th. The next weekend, at NIRC, the team saw similar results, including an 8th overall team finish. Things concluded in late May, when the team headed to Oak Ridge, TN for the ACRA National Championship, highlighted by a 7th overall finish in the V4, 20th overall finish in the V8, 17th in the novice 8+, and 13th in the 2x.

The 2021-2022 campaign was a recovery year for the team and while the Spring results were not what we wanted, we are confident that the basis built this season will be an excellent springboard into the 2022-2023 season, led by 3 strong classes of returners, a full coaching staff, and a hunger to return to the medal docks.
