An annual tradition since 2008, the Scott Laio Memorial Golf Tournament serves as both a remembrance to a champion rower and an opportunity to unite the greater Boston College Crew community.  Originally held at Wayland Country Club, present rowers, alumni, parents, and friends of the program now gather at nearby Newton Commonwealth Golf Course each September.  While most of the golfers eye the low score in the 4-person scramble format in hopes of being awarded the title, others aim simply not to end up in the woods. Fortunately for the golfing novice, there is also a title for most lost balls.

The fun and camaraderie does not end on the 18th hole, however.  Lunch and a raffle follow the golf and an even larger crowd gathers that Friday night for a Cocktail Event at CRI's new Harry Parker Boathouse along the Charles River.  Live music, a silent auction, and endless debates about which boat is the greatest BC crew of all time make for a memorable night each year.  The weekend concludes Saturday morning with pieces between the current team (arriving at the starting line straight from practice) and multiple boats of alumni (carrying the burden of a night of nostalgic drinking).  Remarkably, nobody has ever claimed to have lost a piece.  The barbeque that follows allows past and present rowers to bond over blisters, bow balls and BC...even if they can't agree on who won those pieces.
